New Updates in Descript: What You Need to Know

Hello everyone! Today, we're going to talk about some important updates in Descript. These changes can affect your workflow, so let's take a closer look.

1. Translation Feature Updates

The translation feature has received some changes:

• It's no longer in beta, which means it's ready for full use.
• If you're on the free or Hobbyist plan, you can't use this feature anymore. It's only available on the Creator plan or higher.
• On the Creator plan, you have 30 minutes of translation each month.

Here's how to use the translation feature:

• Go to "Underlord"
• Scroll down and click on "Translate"
• Select the language you want to translate to
• Decide if you want the translated words to be spoken out loud by an AI speaker (dub) or just transcript

Previously, a pop-up showed your translation. With the update, it's now all part of the editor, which makes things smoother.

2. Checkout Workflow Changes

There's a new way to change your plan:

• Go to "Settings."
• Click on "Subscription"
• Choose your plan
• A checkout page will open in your price
• The site will show you the pricing and walk you through how to change your plan

3. AI Speaker and New Look

Now, you can select a default AI speaker:

• Go to the "General" tab in settings.
• Click on "Default Speaker"
• Choose a speaker from the list. You can select an AI Voice that you've trained or you can choose one of Descript's Stock Voices.

4. Quality of Life Improvements

Some small changes make using Descript better:

• Automatic multicam (switching between different camera angles) is now faster.
• When you add stock media, the preview will stop playing.

Other improvements include:

• Fixing audio problems.
• Making certain features available both on the web and desktop app.
• The UI has changed so that clickable elements are easier to see

5. Help Center Redesign

The Help Center looks cleaner and more organized now. There are also minor bug fixes.
