Recommended Tools for Descript Creators

What computer should I use for editing with Descript?

The short answer is: get the best specs you can afford. At a minimum, I recommend the latest chipset (in 2024, for Macs, that's the M3 and, for PCs, the Intel Ultra or Snapdragon X lineup), 16GB of RAM, and 512GB storage. Personally, I think the best bang for your buck right now is something like the Surface Laptop linked below or a MacBook Pro.

What camera do you recommend?

The DJI Pocket 3 is an incredible and versatile 4k camera. You can take it out and about to shoot footage around town or you can use in the home office as a webcam. I recommend the Creator Kit to get the included wireless microphone and extra battery!

What microphone do you use?

I've been using this microphone since April 2024 and it's a huge upgrade over what I was using before. Highly recommend this for beginner and intermediate creators. Sound quality is outstanding, it's plug-and-play easy, it's affordable, and it can grow with you as it has USB and XLR outputs. Can't say enough good things about this mic.

Any other tools you recommend that make editing easier?

Aside from a good computer, a good mouse is perhaps the most important tool in being an efficient editor. At a minimum, get yourself a wireless mouse with a scroll wheel (Recommendation: Do NOT use your laptop trackpad for editing, it's way too tedious). I use this mouse with Descript and love the horizontal scroll wheel to quickly navigate the timeline.

What website and course platform do you recommend?

I was reluctant to switch to Kajabi due to the expense but I'm SO glad I did! Now, my course, tutoring, landing pages, email, and analytics are all under one roof and this business has been taking off since I made the switch. Super powerful, easy to use, and was worth every penny for my business!

What video editor do you recommend?

I know, I know, you're shocked that I'd recommend Descript. But yes, Descript is hands down the best video editor on the market for podcasters and course creators!
